Cheering the Chair …

Oh chair oh chair on the floor, who is the greatest of them all?

Chair Becomes Man

Oh my dear chair, I have been dreaming of you all my life, obsessing about how I could and when I would reach you … sitting on you was the ultimate goal and I thrive and live for keeping my buttocks attached to you … oh chair oh chair, you are my only friend and ally and without you, well; I guess that I will lose all my friends.

My story with you goes way back to the days when I started dreaming of being wealthy and powerful, I realized that you are my only way to glory and that without you I can never buy the big house in the rich suburbs, I would never be able to ride a half a million dollars car, I would never be able to spend my vacations in the Riviera traveling first class.

How can I eat caviar without you? I do not care that its taste sucks as long as I can afford it while 99% of the populace cannot dream of it.
How can I be immune? How can I get away with almost everything I do? I figured it out a long time ago that the only way is by sitting on you and staying there for the longest time.

I understand that in order to reach you, I have to poison all the Snow Whites that I meet along the journey to you, and I fully understand that I need to kill my conscience in the process; it was never useful any way because it kept pushing me backwards. I know that I need to be flexible when it comes to the rules and laws; they are meant to be broken after all but only by me or someone like me although I doubt they exist!!
I understand that I need to be selfish and care only for myself; I cannot carry someone else on my back and I have to be always in the lead because there is only one person who can sit on you because I know that you were made for one person … just like Twix … it is for one, not for two

I promise you that I will fight anyone who tries to approach me; I will throw them out before they reach my playground. I will only keep weak individuals around me to make sure that they will always follow me and not even once would they think of taking my place on you. I commit to always divide and conquer or is it: divide to conquer? To tell you the truth, it really does not matter because it leads to the same result … I will conquer! Keep them apart and they will follow you and compete to gain your trust and preference; give them a chance to cooperate and collaborate; they will team against you and betray you, so I will keep this as my constitution.

To keep them loyal and in my service; I will throw them my cake crumbles … I will also make sure that they are convinced that to keep getting the crumbles they have to keep me happy and make sure I get more cakes because this is the only way they will get their share.

I will build an empire and keep you in the family; only those who carry my last name are entitled to sit on you but only after I am gone!

Oh chair oh chair … without you I am nothing … you make me who I am and I would do anything to stay comfortably seated on you …

Oh chair oh chair on the floor … I am the greatest of them all

Man Becomes Chair

This was a praise by someone who enslaved himself to the chair and forgot that it is the person who gives value to the position (chair) and not the other way around … May Allah have mercy on their souls and have mercy on our society because we have so many of those that it is starting to suffocate all the free souls who would never be slaves to anyone or anything!

What Can I Say Abour Jordan Telecom?

Does this company have the worse customer service you can ever think of or what? Having said that; I am really wondering what the heck has changed since 5 or 10 years? They merged the companies together and they changed the logo to this?

JT Logo

So what good does this do me as a customer? How does this reflect on the service? And what’s in it for me after all?

They are harvesting monthly memberships for the following service:

- More delays in getting the service actually working, so you go and pay the registration fees but this does not necessarily mean that you will get your service as fast as you are required to pay because that would be wishful thinking on your part, so be careful and manage your own expectations when you apply to a new service as the company is not responsible for your disappointment or your wasted time. My sister paid for the ADSL Service in Jan 23rd and got the service on Feb 28th. :O

- Worse customer service … you call the numbers they assigned for you dear customer but it would be really nice if someone actually answered the call. When you dial the number, you get a machine to give you instructions directing the call. Sometimes they keep you on the line for 5 or more minutes because all employees are so busy answering other queries, but most of the time, you get a machine that tell you: “Dear customer, so as not to keep you waiting for long, call again later”, then the line gets disconnected!!
The ironic thing is that they say that these calls are supposedly recorded for quality assurance, what quality exactly and who the heck listens to these calls and are there any real actions taken to solve the problems? :S

- When your call finally gets answered (t), you get a bored employee who is eager to end the call regardless of your dissatisfaction, and the funny thing is that this particular call center does not have the option to transfer the call to someone who can actually discuss your problem and maybe give you some useful information, they tell you that you have to call back only to get the “Dear customer, so as not to keep you waiting for long, call again later” (N)

- It seems that the time goes backwards here, because it used to take them two hours to connect your service again after disconnection due to payment issues, but guess what, it takes 24 hours now that extend to 48 depending on how lucky you are. Also, it seems that they don’t have a network because when you pay on 9 A.M. it will appear in the system at 12 P.M. … now that’s what I call improvement!!

- Forget about the 24 service slogan they have because it is a myth. There are no payment centers after 6, but you can still pay online, however; if you do not have a credit card, or you do not use your credit card online or if you don’t have internet connection to log in and process the payment, well … that’s just beside the point! :O

They wonder why we are eager to see another telecom company in Jordan but all they have to do is look inside their organization to realize that in the modern world, people have choice and thank God we in Jordan will shortly do have that choice, because having some companies compete to serve the consumer magically turns the service around in each and every one of them.

This whole thing made me think of Etisalat; the Emiratis telecom company. Although it was a monopoly and controlled all telecommunications in the country, but they measured up to customers’ satisfaction, they had payment machines just like ATM’s spread all over the country where you can go and pay your invoice and guess what, the reconnecting process is automatic, no need for employees to send emails and do this in 24 – 48 hours like JT, yeah, that’s what JT customer service told me!! :O

Now to something related; I thought that the following movie is so hilarious and so sadly related to what I am talking about here and in an ironic way )

Enjoy!!

:D

Here is the article …

No trains to Marrigeville? See why Khalidah El Mufleh says Singletown is just fine …

Hello, my name is Khalidah, and I am a 34-year-old single woman, which in our society, I suppose, makes me a spinster.

The word spinster conjures up a mental image of a childless, frumpy woman who is somewhat depressed, longing to be like other “normal” women. Indeed, in books and in movies, this very issue is portrayed as a young woman’s – and probably her whole family’s – worst nightmare. The spinster is always the desperate, unhappy woman willing to compromise anything just to be rid of the dreadful fate of being a singleton for life; she might even accept being a second wife or marrying a much older man to run away from the “Spinsterhood Ghost” as it is known in Arabic.
Interestingly enough, the stereotype of spinster has been universally understood to be feminine in nature. ‘Bachelor’ typically implies that a man is young, virile, and available. It doesn’t have the same negative connotations as that of ‘spinster.’ A bachelor could have numerous partners, but it would be immoral for a spinster to do the same. Unlike the spinster, the fact that a man is not married does not necessarily imply a deficiency in his character. Many times, I’ve heard it said to single women: “If you were good enough and worthy, you would have gotten married by now.”
I see things from a completely different perspective. While it’s true that married women tend to have a better societal status, being more respected and acknowledged, I will not think less of myself just because I’m not someone’s wife.

True, it’s human nature to seek companionship… someone to share your life with. We often hear that “there’s someone for everyone”, but what if there isn’t? What if no matter how hard we try, or how long we look, we still don’t find our ‘Mr Right’? What if, one day, we pass the conventional age of marriage and everyone starts referring to us as spinsters?

A few years ago, I was brought face-to-face with the fact that, in the eye of my community, I have become a spinster. I was attending the wedding of a slightly younger cousin, and as I shook her hand in a warm, loving way, she gave me the “I-feel-sorry-for-you” look and said, “May God have mercy on you and send you a husband soon.”

I didn’t know whether or not to be offended, or if I should laugh it off, but then I thought, at least she had the guts to say it to my face. I was sure by then that everyone was thinking the same thing. What annoyed me most was the way that people looked at me: as an incomplete woman, neither acknowledged nor respected unless she was someone’s wife. To them, it doesn’t matter if you’re educated or not, working or not, well established or not. They don’t really care about all your life achievements, because in their opinion, getting married is the only one that counts. Anything short of this role is considered abnormal, unfulfilling, and suspect.

Some people rather see me compromise and accept any man who proposes, even if he was already married or has children from a previous marriage. Single women are expected to lower their standards to meet those of their pursuer, if there was any, and even then they are not supposed to expect what other young brides would since they should be thankful to be getting married in the first place!

A single woman in her 30s or over needs to be strong and have a high level of self confidence in order to overcome stereotypes and not buy into what others try to label her. Working women are at an advantage because we don’t have to depend on anyone for financial stability; we can afford to stay single until we meet the right person. On the other hand, women who depend on their fathers and/or brothers face a bigger problem, leading them to make the only choice they feel they have: get married, no matter what.

I think highly of myself, and I’m not about to let society make me feel different simply because I’m not someone’s – anyone’s – wife. Being a spinster is by no means a terrible fate; it is simply another lifestyle that will be socially accepted when we embrace it for what it is: a normal existence.

If and when I do get married, I insist on taking the step for the right reason, which is to be with the man I choose to live with, not because of societal pressure or out of fear. Being with someone I respect and love is far more important to me than ending up with just anyone simply because I had to run away from my fate.

When I imagine my future husband, I think of someone who could share the details of my life, laugh and cry with me, is there for me, understands, loves and appreciates who I am, someone who becomes my home and shelter, someone who talks to my mind and speaks to my heart, a man who respects the woman in me and sees me in my true colours. Until that person comes along, I will remain single. And if that person never comes, well, I’d rather live in Singletown than be miserable-ever-after in Marriageville.

What’s a spinster?
A spinster (or old maid) is a woman who has never been married, though it is usually applied only to women who are regarded as beyond the normal age for marriage, which varies between cultures. The word spinster came into common use in the West during the early 19th century when the thankless task of spinning cloth had been pushed off to unmarried women as a way to earn their keep in the home.

What’s a good brand without excellent service?

If you ask me; a good brand or a great one for that matter really is worth nothing without excellent service to back it up. We are in the time and age where customer service is the ruling and the most important preference factor with your clients. With all the slogans of “The Customer is Always Right” and “We seek customer delight” and “We aim for perfection” and blah blah blah … In Jordan; I say: bleh!!!

I am sure you all know Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits; you all have tried them at one point or another, but let me tell you what happened today when we attempted to order a meal for our lunch.

Popeye

We made sure that we contact them at 12:15 because we already know that they take an hour to deliver the order regardless of its size, so we agreed what we wanted to order and called their delivery center. The call was answered by a girl who obviously was absent minded or not trained to take customers orders, because my colleague had to repeat the order at least three times to make sure that we get the things that we order.

An hour later; no sign of delivery yet, so we decide to contact them again and spoke to a guy there; the conversation went as follows:

Us: we have ordered a delivery at 12:15, why haven’t we received it yet?
Them: because we were trying to call you and there was no answer
Us: what number are you calling?
Them: the one that appeared on the caller ID when you called
Us: why didn’t you call the number that was given to you? We have given you a mobile number to call us because this one is an operator and no one will answer it
Them: we assumed that this was your number and when you did not answer, we gave up
Us: why didn’t you call the mobile number that we provided?
Them: we tried calling the other number
Us: why do you take the mobile number if you are not going to use it?
Them: we take it just in case, but we always call the number you call from
Us: why didn’t you say so from the beginning? We could have given you a number you can contact, but you just assumed and acted?
Them: we always call the number you call from
Us: so what happened to the order?
Them: we will send it to you as soon as it is ready
Us: we need to talk to your manager
Them: why? You will only hurt the girl who took the order
Us: what do you usually do when something like this happens?
Them: we do nothing, we deliver the order
Us: what about the mistake that you did? Who will compensate for the inconvenience?
Them: we do not have such things
Us: fine then, transfer us to someone who knows how t o answer our questions
Them: I will ask our operations manager (OM) to call you, but you will hurt the girl.
Us: we don’t want to hurt anyone, but we have a right to talk to someone in charge so please transfer the call
Them: I will ask the OM to call you

10 minutes later, they call the mobile that was given to them earlier and did not think to use it the first time :S

OM: I understand that you have a problem with our staff and you threatened to do things and shouted at them
Us: sorry; but obviously you were not told the whole truth here
And we go through the whole story again
OM: I will call them and arrange something for you, and I will fire that girl
Us: we are not asking you to fire her; we just want to deliver our complaint
OM: this is her last mistake today and I am firing her any way
Us: some of us would like to cancel their order because they are not interested any more
OM: ok, I will have someone call you to do that

10 minutes later they call, and again on the mobile phone (oh why oh why they did not use it from the beginning???)
Them: can you give me your location?
Us: we want to cancel some items
Them: ok …
Us: such and such
Them: ok done
Us: can you repeat the order?
Them: so and so
Us: ok, we are located so and so

Half an hour later; nothing yet
Another half an hour and the food arrives …
I have already canceled my order but my colleagues were still waiting and were debating whether to take the order or send it back, so they flipped a coin D
It was agreed to take the food and they started eating, but get this; the order was missing a whole meal for one of the guys :O

He contacted that OM again who was really annoyed and said that he has given us 10% discount and said that he will talk to them and see!! (N)
We don’t really need a discount for something we pay for but never receive; it would really be great to get what you paid for!

45 minutes later, my colleague gets his meal (*)

Now; going over the whole story:

One: we did not get our food on time; we got it two and a half hours later and not even the right one!

Two: not even once did any of them say sorry … in fact they were annoyed that we were complaining

Three: they think that it is about the food or the discount when it is all about the attitude and accountability; they did not think that someone would actually stand up and tell them how they suck!!

Four: it does not really matter how good the brand is, how yummy or how well done; what really matters is the attitude with which you are served because that’s what counts.

Five: they have lost some customers after this ridiculous experience and I think that who ever reads this post will think twice before dialing their number

To All Women in the World!

Happy International Women’s Day …

It is really nice that we have an international day to celebrate womanhood and all the women around the world. The question is though; how do we do that?

Do we send cards to the women we know and call it a day?
Do we brush it off as one of these meaningless internationals days?
Do we do nothing?
Do we celebrate the women in our lives?
Do we go out ourselves and party in celebration of our womanhood?

To me, this day is a symbol of a wonderful creature; a woman who can be a wife, mother, sister, daughter or friend … God gave us uniqueness in the way we look, the way we feel, the way we fight, the way we think, the way we laugh, the way we live … yet; we are still figuring out our way through all these things and through life itself.

We need help and we know how to seek it, we realize that we are only a part of life and not all of it, we know that we have a holy role in the lives of the people that touch those lives in so many ways and we learn as we go how to become women through experience, because we are born females and we turn into women as we ripe and mature.

On this day; I have a wish to make …

I wish that …

No woman is ever beaten
No woman is ever raped
No woman is ever enslaved
No woman is humiliated
No woman is ever forced to sell herself to live
No woman is ever deprived of her rights

I wish all women of the world …

Food on their tables and roofs over their heads
Means to become educated
To be able to love
To be loved by those around them
To have wisdom to lead
To have someone to share life with
And most importantly; a happy healthy long life
Happy International Women’s Day everyone!!

On the same level … I received a wonderful note from the one and only; Lama Hourani. I really admire this creative woman and respect her talent and initiative … I would like to share her wonderful note and magnificent art with all of you …

This body of work is not only a celebration of life and times in Jordan, but also
the testimony of one woman’s odyssey into the metaphysical realm of the East.

From Jordan to the women of the world.. Happy International Woman’s day

Celebration of Women
