Darkness Shadows Gaza …
Or is it that Gaza is now drowning in darkness, cold, hunger and despair???
Sometimes there aren’t enough words to describe what we are witnessing and what the news keep shoving down our throats every morning till we reached a point that nothing surprises us anymore, but what is happening in Gaza comes as a shock that leaves the majority of us speechless and helpless …
In a time and life that human rights are becoming a major factor in how societies are governed … in a world that the international community is judging the backward Middle East because of honor crimes, poverty, violence against women and primitive culture … the same community is standing still to watch as Gaza is being crucified and executed … it is cold and they don’t have heat … they are cut out from the rest of the world … and as well as they are dying by bullets and military attacks; they are also being killed by hunger and cold …
I choose to raise my voice to say STOP … ENOUGH … Life is not a game and just because they reside in Gaza … it does not make their lives of any less value than any other human in any part of the world …

I find it true that the Arab life is so cheap, and what makes it cheap is not Israel and USA but us the Arabs who remaid passive and quiet on all our issues!
This is an excellent one for abu mahjoob!

What you are experiencing is a state of siege, something that hasn’t happened to a city-state for over a century.
Perceptive Arab bloggers predicted this would happen almost from the moment Hamas took over the Strip. That’s because since the invention of the airplane and cannon most armies prefer to rub out a resisting city’s population by total bombardment. The Israelis, by contrast, treat Gazans with kid gloves, working hard to keep civilian casualties down.
Since it is unlikely Gazans will successfully rebel against their Hamas masters, unless Hamas changes its mind or the populace actually sits up and begs Israel to re-occupy their territory, the civilian population will rot slightly more quickly than the fighters who extort food and fuel from them.
Life is not a game and just because they reside in Gaza … it does not make their lives of any less value than any other human
And there you are wrong. Humans generally value people repeatedly convicted of violent crimes and of continued violent intent much less highly than others. That’s why so many violent persons are in prisons, rather than outside terrorizing other humans.
And though the rest of the world might not say this out of fear of Arab terrorism, there is the feeling is that the Palestinian Arab population richly deserves such treatment in the form of collective punishment. You had a democratic election and CHOSE Hamas. The principle of collective democratic responsibility has been invoked from 1914 and WWI to 9/11/01, so why should Gaza be any different?
It is very embarassing to be an Arab in Gaza right now, and only uncommon courage (not the sort that comes from hammering Israelis) can get you out of it.

You know what hurt the most? it’s watching those egyptian soldiers beat gaza women with sticks. It’s hearing that manchester united got millions of dollars to play alhelal team in saudi arabia. It’s to hear how much some licence plates were sold for in UAE. All that in the same day as gazans were hurting bad. Every time I think that we have reached the bottom of the well, yet, we keep going down. I just wish we reach it quickly, so then we can not anticipate that it can get any worse. But for now, it will get worse.

Solomon2,
Thank you for passing by and for your comment
I guess that the difference between our perception of the situation is that I am looking at it (as an outsider of course) from a totally humanitarian angle and to tell you the truth, no community no matter what their race, color, ethnicity or religion should go through what Gazans are going through simply because life is worth more and is not a game and should be respected and valued …
In no way I am agreeing with Hamas or their approach to the whole situation (and I am not a political blogger at all) … but I still think that people should not be punished because of their governments’ twisted choices … The majority of the people just want to be left alone after this lifetime of war and killings …
Frankly and in this time and era … it seems that Arabs are being stereotyped allover the world and are being shown as terrorists in a generalizing manner and that’s just wrong and misleading …
